The historic Mascot Gold Mine near Hedley, BC in the Upper Similkameeen valley is now a museum. I took this series of photos on June 4, 2005. Public tours are given three times a day during the summer months.
A&W Fire
Fire erupted in the Penticton A&W drive-through on May 11. Damage was minor enough that it reopened that evening.

The Baggage Handler (a.k.a. Frank)
This artwork, The Baggage Handler, erected in the middle of the new roundabout in Penticton in January 2005, evoked much controversy
By the end of the month Frank had fallen victim to vandals who damaged his genitals.
By March 1 Frank had been removed for repairs, and his suitcases relocated. But after a new controversy his return was cancelled.
In the summer of 1999 I went to the Miramar Air Show in San Diego. Then I drove with Gerry Perrier from San Diego to Tucson, stopping at the Imperial Dunes and Saguaro National Park.

In 1999 the mountains north of Vancouver, BC got tons of snow. It was great for snowboarding, but not so good for anything else, like cycling.
